Beating the Little Hater - Woah, 2 posts in 2 days!

Posted by Karen Rubin on Fri, Apr 09, 2010 @ 12:58 PM

A friend introduced me to Ill Doctrine and I find his work completely inspiring and completely intimidating. He is SO GOOD! Then I was watching his best of videos, and I got inspired by this one.

My Little Hater tells me that I don't actually have interesting things to say. That the content I create is great for my parents and friends, but that it isn't actually relevant to the great folks I meet in my professional life.

Then he continues by telling me it's not actually worth it to even create content for my family and friends. It's time consuming, and I see/talk to the important folks regularly, so why both blogging which is so impersonal by comparison?

Then he comes back and reminds me that what I have to say, isn't that interesting, because I say so damn much of it - WHO CAN LISTEN THAT MUCH! So I shouldn't overwhelm them all with all my blah blah blahing about every single detail of my life.

This week, I am going to beat my little hater by posting TWICE! Ha! Take that!

What about you? What does your little hater say?

Great video! My thanks to Rick Roberge for posting it. As form my little hater, wellover the years I just know they are "Little" , I just know that I can't leave anything for tomorrow. When I'm done for the day, I'm done. When I first began to work out of my home 11 years ago , I knew that this could present an incredible problem with procrastination, easy todo when your home. Excuses galore to find reason for putting off work, so I just worked and worked and did what I needed to do for a year without much of a break. I'd end the day and knew that I had finished for the day and tomorrow was anew one. It became a habit.

But I know the "Little Hatera" are out there, but I can't let them win. I do take 3-4 vacations a year and that helps.

Don't think they ever go away, they hide, just waiting to get you.

My little hater tells me I have to outwork everyone - which creates more work for me - which requires even more effort to outwork everyone - which results in more incoming emails - and more work. I hate work. I love what I do but it would be much more fun if I didn't have to work to do it!
